Sion – attractive capital of Valais
20 kilometres below Nendaz lies Sion (Sion), the capital of the canton of Valais. The city of Sion has everything to interest tourists. Whether museums, castles or the historic old town. Whether gourmet shopping or nightlife. Sion is alive. The two most famous mountains in the world are close by: the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc. Both mountains and several hundred other peaks can be seen from Nendaz (Mont Fort) in one of the most impressive panoramas in the world. Valais is known and loved for its excellent wines, variety of cheeses, apricots and raspberries.
Not only excellent wines are available in the Valais. The kitchen is also influenced by French culture and the proximity to Aosta in Italy. A trip to Sion and you eat Plateau de Mere with fresh seafood. The pleasantly warm climate helps in addition to the Mediterranean flair.

What ever you want
It was also good that we travelled to Sion once. Going to the market on Fridays is a must during your stay. A lovely town with a southern flair.

I have known Nendaz for more than 30 years. We have also experienced and influenced the construction of the chalet through to today’s little gem. We love the people here in Nendaz. Our love of food and cooking has had a significant influence on the high-quality and complete furnishings of the house. The fact that we spend a lot of time there ourselves also contributes to the standard of the chalet. My credo: always try to give the best.

My parents built the house when I was a child. So I had the opportunity to spend part of my childhood holidays there. I enjoyed this very much. The chalet was named after my younger siblings and myself: MOritz, LAura and VIncenz. During the day we went skiing or hiking. In the evenings, we warmed up in the sauna before dinner or helped dad with the barbecue. From time to time we also went to Sion. I thought that was so great because you feel like you’re somewhere in the middle of France, especially on Fridays, the market day, with mussels and shellfish with wonderful wines. After renting out the chalet a few years ago, I now help with the rental of the MOLAVI chalet.
